Franz Ferdinand are set to turns back on next year, according to his guitarist Nick McCarthy.

In January 2009 the Scottish band's last album 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' and issued in Britain for about two years do not pay a bill gig.

But McCarthy is currently performing as part of side project Box Codax, has said they will be held again next year.

Speaking to the Daily Record, McCarthy said of the band's plans: "We're thinking of doing something again after a bit of a sabbatical. We'd toured to excess and needed to enjoy playing again. It is going really well."

The guitarist in the band, their plan was not feeling good and as fertile as it once did he need to.

He said: "We used to think, what's wrong with recording an album a year? Then it was, 'Oh no. We're changing the system a bit'. These days people write an album for a year and tour for two years. It takes forever."

Franz Ferdinand made their UK live comeback at Belle & Sebastian's All Tomorrow's Parties Bowlie 2 festival at Butlins in Minehead in December previous year.

Franz Ferdinand's Nick McCarthy is branching out. According to NME report that the guitarist has written for the puppet show, a book on Shakespeare is one.

The Tempest Puppet Music Show is the new material, which McCarthy has been working on alo ngside with actor Phillip Plessmann and designer Hank Schmidt-in-der-Beek for the past three years.

McCarthy told NME, "We've been writing the songs on and off for the last three years but I've only just had time to actually put it on the stage. So yes, there are new songs. We've written an album's worth and you'll be able to get that at a computer near you soon. I think it's a beautiful album. That's why it's worth putting on stage."

McCarthy co-wrote with Plessmann, will be performed live during showings of The Tempest Puppet Music Show held at London's Wilton Music Hall on September 7 through 9.

The Quietus, Duran Duran replied to producer Mark Ronson’s recent comment about other bands “moving onto their ground,” in an interview.

When I was in junior high, I joined the school dance committee. I wasn’t interested in themes or decorations or even dancing, actually. No, I was on a crusade to get someone, anyone, to make the music better. My friends and I were sick of the indistinguishable R&B songs that usually dominated the school soundsystem and wanted to get some rock, man, on the speakers.
Unfortunately for us, this was the grunge era, and the teacher/chaperones just didn’t think “In Bloom” was great dance music. They were deathly afraid of spontaneous mosh pits. If only we had Franz Ferdinand back then.
The Scottish band’s razor sharp 2004 debut is one of the best dance friendly rock records of all time, infused with driving beats and laced with stinging guitar licks. If, on a Saturday night, all she wants to do is dance, and all you want to do is rock, you can always compromise on Franz Ferdinand, and both of you will end up perfectly fulfilled.
Really, it’s unfair to put the word “compromise” in the same sentence with this album, which never lets up and never lets go once “Jacqueline” gets chugging. On that leadoff track, guitarists Nick McCarthy and Alex Kapranos set the tone within the first minute, blasting away with a needle nosed riff, then chiming in with a funky, punky solo that can slice, dice and julienne potatoes. The message is clear: although bass and drums usually are the prime movers in dance music, this fire is going to fueled by guitars.
Which brings us to “Take Me Out,” the album’s breakaway hit and one of the best singles of the aughts. But it’s that great riff, moving in lockstep with the groove, which made Franz Ferdinand the archdukes of dance rock. Frontman/lead player Kapranos takes a turn that’s part Steve Jones and part Steve Cropper, then mixes his romantic conquest and assassination metaphors. The song’s a powder keg that could blow at any moment.
Then again, just about the entire album is that tightly wound. “This Fire” kicks over like Mrs. O’Leary’s cow with a blowtorch, fanning the flames with devilish abandon. The tempo shifting “The Dark of the Matinee” is full of the goosebump raising feelings of young lust, while “Cheating on You” is swarming with buzzing riffs that encircle its crackerjack beat.
What’s amazing about this most confident of debut albums, is that Franz Ferdinand is overwhelmingly derivative and yet still sounds exceptionally original. “Darts of Pleasure” alone must reference about a dozen great acts from their fellow art school students in Talking Heads to garage rockers ? and the Mysterians to post punkers The Pixies. And yet, the song gallops along with an energy all its own. Upon release, the song sounded so good to British DJ John Peel that he called the Franz Ferdinand “the saviors of rock and roll.”
That might be overstating the situation just a bit (you think?), but by upping the tempo on those tight rock riffs, these Scots found a way to get rock music on the radio and up the charts at a time when that was quite a trick. And hopefully, at a junior high dance somewhere in the world, “Take Me Out” was played. And a 13 year old boy leaned against the wall in the gym with his friends and said, “This dance sucks … but at least the music’s good.”

Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos has given schoolchildren a lesson in songwriting.
Franz Ferdinand emerged from Glasgow with a clutch of golden pop songs. The Scottish pair blended post punk rhythms with a golden melodic touch which saw them conquer the critics and the charts.
Returning last year with 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' the band took on board influences from antique electronica and African music. A daring release, it won Franz Ferdinand praise as well as a Dan The Automater produced dub re working.
At the British Music Experience invited to speak, Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos reminisced about writing those early hits.
Speaking to an audience of schoolchildren the singer played acoustic versions of Franz Ferdinand tracks 'Take Me Out', 'Jacqueline' and 'Walk Away'.
Talking about the band's songwriting process, Alex Kapranos said: "'Take Me Out' was written with Nick, with both of us sitting in a room chopping things about and saying things like, 'I saw this on TV the other night, let's try and get it in the lyrics!'"
"But 'Walk Away' was written in a much more traditional way – I was in a dressing room in Hamburg and I'd just split up with my girlfriend and it came out naturally."
Meanwhile, Alex Kapranos has revealed his listening habits. Speaking to fans on Twitter the singer praised BBC 6Music before going on to celebrate the output of classical station Radio 3.
However the Franz Ferdinand frontman is not a fan of Classic FM. "Is any uk radio station more bourgeois than classic fm?"
"I doubt it. There was literally an advert for a tax haven on ClassicFM when I accidentally tuned in."
Elsewhere, the singer has been avoiding the World Cup. "I don't understand football. I hear Brazil are pretty good at it. Like Scotland & Greece, one of which won the European cup once."

Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos has declared he will not be writing a musical, despite declaring that he had "an amazing idea" for a show.
The frontman was speaking about his inspiration while on tour in Australia, but has since used Twitter to declare he has no intention of hitting the West End or Broadway.
"I'm not writing a bloody musical. I was talking about an idea I had for one. Doesn't mean I'm going to write it," he wrote, before explaining that it was just one of a series of fantasy projects he has had.
"I had an idea for a sitcom in a Russian abattoir. I'm not writing that either. Or the sci-fi movie script Time Bin," he explained. "But In Through The Outbox, a rom-com about business rivals falling in love over internet while unaware of their real identities, is a hit."
He was later informed by one of his followers that In Through The Outbox was very similar to the Hollywood film You've Got Mail, causing him to quip: "What? They stole my bloody idea!!!"
Kapranos also admitted the misunderstanding about the musical idea was his fault as he replied to the Triple J radio station that broadcast the initial interview.
"My fault! Opening my mouth and letting my imagination go etc," he wrote. "It was fun to chat about it though."

We go across the Atlantic to find Editors, who have taken a very, very familiar career path see if you can spot it as I describe their music. The band from Birmingham, England started off as a new, post punk Joy Division sound, with ripping guitars, but clear, almost speechlike vocals from Tom Smith, their talented front man. We can hear this sound clearly in their first album, “The Back Room,” with hit singles like “Blood” and “Munich.” This 2005 album, described by NME as “dark disco,” was released to great fanfare, peaking at #2 on the UK charts and earning a Mercury Prize nomination.
Their second album, “An End Has a Start,” completed their rise to the summit of British music, reaching #1 on the UK charts and going platinum. This album was incredibly reminiscent of their first, with guitars laying down a dance like beat. Hits like “Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors” was similar in tone and pace to singles off of “The Back Room,” but the major issue with this album is the lack of creativity and innovation. Their first album was mind blowingly original, but this album seemed derivative.
In response to this criticism, Editors took a different approach to their new album, “In This Light And On This Evening.” Apparently guitars aren’t enough for them, so they injected synthesizers into every song, finally transitioning them into full on post-punk dance rock into…well, pretty much just dance. However, they pull it off quite well, creating a more raw, anthemic sound with their first single, “Papillon.”
Editors are a band that, for some reason, really hasn’t made it in the United States, which is strange, because others like them have. The common path they took is one traveled before did you figure out who it was? The answer I was looking for was Franz Ferdinand, who went from brilliant first album to derivative second album to synth third. While Editors may have their own musical talents, the comparisons are easy to make, and finding them for the first time reminded me of hearing “Take Me Out” for the first time.

Frank Ferdinand: Art Brut embody spirit of ’70s punk

The Ramones and The Libertines had a child. His name is Art Brut.
That’s the sound that wailed at Club Congress on Tuesday night. British heritage aside, Art Brut embodied the Art Wave scene that eerily recreates the sounds of yesteryear punk, from the brash noises of Franz Ferdinand to the bittersweet notes of Bloc Party.
Yet Art Brut brings an energy to their performances that most bands throw aside when on tour. Front man Eddie Argos swung his microphone and jumped around in a manner that only a drunken punk buffoon would. However, Art Brut is more than a throwback; they are a tribute to those who paved the way before them.
“My voice, I know it’s just talking, but it’s still rock and roll,” Argos shouted into the microphone stand as he waved his hands to the audience. He even took the time out to mingle with the crowd while confessing his desire to steal DC Comics in a singsong fashion. That connection created the small yet concentrated vibe that ran rampant through Congress.
The edgy band commonly referred to themselves as performs in a band. Pretentious feelings aside, they pulled it off. Art Brut relied on their gut, not set-lists, when it came to their show. Argos screamed out the song he felt was fit to play next. “Ready Art Brut?”, he would say as he cued them up like a conductor of a symphony might.
And if Art Brut wasn’t edgy enough, add female bassist Frederica “Freddy” Feedback — who seems right out of a Hot Topic fashion show — into the mix. Even drummer Mikey Breyer makes a point of standing throughout the entirety of the show.
Art Brut envisions the raucous days of CBGB, yet one of Argos’ onstage remarks — “All right, let’s take it slower so I don’t kill myself” — recalled the original punk scene’s limitations. With an updated look and a fresh sound, Art Brut turned Congress into an underground musical experience where the underage were made to feel foolish because they didn’t have the means to find fake IDs, and bands left the stage to intermingle with their loyal fans.
Yet, they keep a childish naivety about them. Art Brut is stuck in a young state of mind when singing about high school girlfriends and reading DC Comics while drinking chocolate milkshakes. “Some things will always be great,” Argos screamed.
They even went as far as to emulate their idols, recreating lines from songs by David Bowie and The Ramones. Overall, Art Brut made sure that the Tucson audience, young or old could relate to their musical influences.
After their encore (a common concert device Art Brut says they rarely use), they gracefully exited the stage.
But not before Argos, like a gentleman, bid his audience farewell: “Goodnight Tucson, sweet dreams.”

Bands take the stage following festival shut-down

Franz Ferdinand, Elbow, Maximo Park and 2manydjs were among the acts who got the musical action at Benicassim festival going again last night -July 18, following an earlier site shut-down due to weather conditions.

On Friday night - July 17 Kings Of Leon were among the bands to have their set at the Spanish festival cancelled as strong winds cut across the site. Officials cordoned off stages as the wind grew dangerous and evacuated some camp sites where festival-goers were staying.

The band, backed by a three-piece string section for much of the set, drew a huge crowd, opening with 'Starlings' then playing songs including 'Grounds For Divorce', 'Ribcage' and epic set-closer 'One Day Like This'.

The band celebrated by downing shots mid-way through the set – inducing cheers from the audience.

The group first knowledgeable chart achievement when their second single "Take Me Out" reached #3 in the UK Charts, went after by their debut album Franz Ferdinand which debuted on the UK album chart at #3. Most of the videos to encourage the band's singles take motivation from Russian avant-garde much like their LP & CD sleeves.

The avant-garde music video for "Take Me Out", absorbed by Jonas Odell, was stimulated by Dadaism, Busby Berkeley choreographies and Russian constructivist design. Alex Kapranos gave details the many and varied powers at the back the 1930s-style promo for second single "Take Me Out": "It's kind of two dimensional in a three dimensional style if that makes any sense. It's a montage of images; ourselves, images and things taken from other places and put together in a strange, abstract way. That's what gives the video that strange, jerky, style". The video for "This Fire" is similar to "Take Me Out" in style.

The lyrics of "Do You Want To" make position to parties at the "trendy" Glasgow art gallery Transmission and the video as well as a variety of the work of modern artist Vanessa Beecroft, along with a position to Pink Floyd in the mix.

A rock band Franz Ferdinand from Glasgow, Scotland, shaped in 2001. The band’s critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album was launched in 2004 and debuted on the UK album charts at number three, going on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize. So far, the band has launched 9 singles of which Take Me Out, Matinée, and Do You Want To were top 10 hits in the UK.

The band went after their first album up in 2005 with You Could Have It So Much Better, from which Do You Want To, Walk Away, the double A-side The Fallen / L. Wells, as well as Eleanor, Put Your Boots back on, were lifted as singles (although L. Wells was not included on the album).

The band contains Alex Kapranos (guitar/vocals), Nicholas McCarthy (guitar/backing vocals/keyboard), Paul Thomson (drums/backing vocals), and Robert Hardy (bass). The band has also adopted a new member, Andy Knowles, ex-drummer of Fiery Furnaces. Andy plays guitar, drums, and keyboard.

Franz Ferdinand’s third studio album ‘Tonight’, was launched on January 26th 2009, supported by first single ‘Ulysses’. The album kind more famous electronic powers next to the band’s trademark guitar sound.
